Erica Forkner, L.P.C.

Erica Forkner is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wheaton College Graduate School. Before joining Alliance, she worked at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital as a therapist in their Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program, helping adolescents work through mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts/self-harm, and trauma. Erica has a heart for working with adolescents and young adults facing challenges as they navigate middle school, high school, and college.

Erica is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), which she finds to be a helpful tool for patients with trauma histories. She recognizes the role of both creativity and lighthearted humor in the work of therapy and encourages her patients to involve their physical selves in the healing process; this includes emphasizing the importance of grounding, sensory engagement, and movement in a patient’s recovery process. Erica works with individuals (with a focus on children, adolescents, and young adults) and families. She has experience treating trauma, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, school anxiety/avoidance, suicidal ideation/self-harm and parent-child conflict.

Erica lives in the western suburbs and enjoys spending time with friends, exploring new coffee shops, being involved at her church, and listening to podcasts in her free time!
