Betty Crane, M.A., L.C.P.C

Having received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College (2010), Betty works with clients who seek help for a wide range of issues including: anxiety and mood disorders, marital/couples’ issues, loss and grief, divorce and health concerns. She has also assisted those impacted by family and friends with substance abuse or other mental illness, those who struggle with co-dependency, self-esteem or faith concerns. Betty draws from a wide variety of approaches including cognitive behavioral, solution focused, acceptance and commitment and psychodynamic therapies. Her clinical experience has included working in a non-profit community counseling center and private practice settings. She works with individuals, couples and families.

Prior to this second-half-of-life career change, Betty worked several years as a litigation attorney and then in corporate settings as VP and regional manager for a professional liability company. She was privileged also to work several years as a stay-at-home mom.

“The trajectory of my life has been from the court room to risk prevention and management to a personal individual focus on inner growth and healing. This path has taught me that one’s optimal health and healing ideally involves an inward journey to self-acceptance and self-love in order to be able to turn outward toward our family, friends and others in health and love too. Working with my clients, I also see how great suffering does not have to necessarily define the totality of the person or their path, but might even be a gateway to a new understanding of identity, life meaning, and a greater love for self and others as well.”

Betty has also completed a 2-year certificate program in Spiritual Direction through the Christos Center of Minnesota.

Therapy, much like spiritual direction, can be an opportunity to discover more of yourself, find healing, and impact your continuing growth. It can be both hard as well as quite rewarding.

Betty (whose BA was in English Literature from Loyola University) loves to read and write, to work out, hike, travel garden, and watch movies. Her greatest joys in life are her children.
