Barrett McRay, Psy.D.,

Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Director

Barrett joined Alliance in 1998 from a background in ministry with adolescents and families. His practice focuses on individual therapy with adults, adolescents, couples, and families. He treats a broad range of struggles including problems of anxiety and depression, personality disorders, problems of sexual identity, relationship and family conflict, and spiritual struggles related to mental health.

"It is often in the places of our deepest pain that we experience the greatest intimacy in community and come to understand and commit to the values which sustain us throughout life. I am continually thankful for the opportunity to walk through some of these experiences with the people I am blessed to meet in my work, and I am humbled by their courage as they face the difficult trials of life."

Barrett is associate professor and Chair of the Christian Formation and Ministry Department at the graduate school of Wheaton College, where he teaches courses in counseling ministry, youth ministry, and pastoral care. He holds a doctorate in clinical psychology and a master’s degree in New Testament studies. He is a co-author of Modern Psychopathologies: A Comprehensive Christian Appraisal – a book which explores problems of mental health from a Christian perspective.

Barrett loves to spend time with his family, and he is very active in the life of his church community. His personal hobbies include sports, outdoor activities, and wood-working.
