Steve Jones, L.C.P.C
Clinical Director
Therapist
Steve joined Alliance in 1991, having previously worked in mental health hospital settings and for Will County Mental Health. He treats adults and adolescents dealing with a variety of problems, including grief and depression, anxiety disorders, adult children of alcoholic/dysfunctional families, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, marital and family problems and faith issues. His areas of specialty also include treating obsessive compulsive disorder and men’s issues. Steve leads a men's psychotherapy group.
“I believe that, while most of our emotional wounds happen in the context of our relationships (or lack thereof), our healing comes almost exclusively through our relationships. I see my role as therapist as offering one relationship, among many, that can give support, encouragement and direction to individuals, families and couples as they journey from pain and brokenness to healing and wholeness.”
Steve earned his master’s degree in clinical psychology from Wheaton College Graduate School in 1989 and was licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor. He also completed a two-year training program in Gestalt therapy through Gestalt Chicago (affiliated with the Cleveland Gestalt Institute).
Steve enjoys time with family and regularly participates/contributes to the life of his church community. His personal hobbies include biking, camping and hiking, home improvement projects, gardening, and maintaining an aquarium. “The benefits of fish-watching have been sorely unappreciated.”
