Greg Lewis, PsyD
Psychologist
Greg has been a clinical psychologist since 1987 and joined Alliance in 1994 after
having worked at Cassens & Associates since 1987. His practice includes assessment and
therapy with adolescents and adults as well as marital/couples therapy. He is a Medicare
provider and also provides assessment and treatment for the elderly. Greg specializes in
doing family-of-origin work and treats a range of disorders including depression, anxiety,
substance abuse, conduct disorders, physical and sexual abuse, and personality disorders.
His clinical interests include trauma, chronic medical illness, couples who are highly
conflicted, life transition issues, and individuals experiencing spiritual struggles.
"In my work with clients, I try to create a safe place in which they feel listened to and can
explore their current life difficulties. I help them to look at their problems in the context
of their own personal history and family-of-origin, with the goal of helping them to have
a better understanding of themselves and to make the changes necessary to move forward
with their lives."
Greg has been a staff psychologist at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County
since 1987 where he directs the mental health services for the Adolescent & Young
Adult Clinic and coordinates the child and adolescent inpatient and emergency room
consultation-liaison service. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the
Illinois School of Professional Psychology and completed his internship and a health
psychology fellowship at Cook County Hospital. Greg provides consultation to schools,
holds workshops for medical residents, and works extensively with immigrants and
refugees who are seeking asylum.
Greg is married and has one child. He enjoys reading, listening to music, and running. He
is an avid sports fan and is actively involved in the life of his church community where
he is an elder.
