Connie Valentini, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Connie received her masters and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Wheaton College Graduate School. She completed her clinical residency at Forest Psychiatric Hospital, working with patients hospitalized for severe disorders of mood, anxiety, and substance abuse. She has been working as a part of the Alliance team since 2001.
Her practice includes work with adults and adolescents, utilizing varied modalities of individual, family and couples therapy. Connie’s special interests include treatment of anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorders, relational struggles related to divorce and blended families, problems related to infertility, grief and loss, spiritual struggles, and healing from trauma and abuse. Connie believes that the key to a successful therapy experience lies in building a trusting, collaborative relationship with her patients. She seeks to understand how their personal history may be impacting their current difficulties, and provides a compassionate ear as she encourages emotional expression and exploration. She is energized when her patients work to discover their own areas of strength and can begin to develop optimistic goals and changes to lead a more fulfilling life.
"Therapy provides a unique opportunity away from the everyday tasks of life and allows one to focus for awhile on some of the deeper issues of love and loss, brokenness and healing, growth and change. Seeking therapy is a worthy endeavor, and I feel both blessed and humbled in my role as a therapist for those who are seeking such healing and change."
Connie was born and raised in Chicago, where many of her large extended family still reside. She is married and keeps busy raising her three small children, two of who are twins. She enjoys cooking, outdoor exercise, and relaxing with a good book.
