Andrea Canlas, M.A.
Andrea joined Alliance in 2010 after earning a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Wheaton College. Before that, Andrea worked as an elementary school teacher and as a stay-at- home Mom. While home raising her three children, she took advantage of the opportunity to provide a nurturing environment as a home childcare provider.
"I have never met a client I didn't like. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, parents, individuals, and couples. I love being in relationships with people, and I believe that this is why I enjoy working with such a broad spectrum of people. I think it is in relationship with others that we can find healing from our wounds. It is my goal to create a safe, nurturing environment for people of all ages. I approach each person as a unique individual and approach the therapeutic relationship as an individualized experience."
Andrea is inspired by the search for one’s voice and is committed to empowering individuals to find their voice. Andrea’s special interests include issues with loss and grief, sexual-abuse survivors, communication/relationship problems, self-esteem building, disruptive behaviors, parenting issues, adjustment issues for children and adolescents. Andrea has a real heart for working with children/adolescents and their families.
Andrea’s favorite way to pass her time outside of work is by spending time being a Mom and wife. She also loves to cook, read, run, and share a cup of warm coffee with friends and enjoy the outdoors.
